13 Fun Free Things to do With Your Kids

I actually made this list to give myself ideas . . . Kids grow up too fast!

  1. Horsie rides (in other words, you are the horsie)
  2. Wrestling (for the 50lb. and up kids)
  3. Color
  4. Fold paper airplanes
  5. Teach music (again, the older ones)
  6. Write an oral story by taking turns with plot.
  7. Clean together (this doesn’t have to be negative!)
  8. Just talk
  9. Walk
  10. Go to the park
  11. Play “chase”
  12. Hide and go seek
  13. Cook

Any additions?

The kind of activities that don’t cost a cent are the very best kind, and the ones your children will remember best.  I still like to color. :)  (Outside the lines, of course.)  Lovely TT list.

Nancy, thanks so much for that fun comment.  I waver . . . sometimes I like all colors in the lines and other times I melt the crayons so they run down the page in blends ;)  Happy TT and thanks for your comment.

My hubby loves to cook with the kids and they all have much better culinary skills than I do! I’m still on the spaghettios, myself. Great list! We’re also big fans of board and card games around here–those are always a good time!Jessica

    Great list, Damien!

    I’m gonna add:

Make your own music videos, play in your own band, side walk chalk,  make home made goo or playdough or face paint, skip rocks on a pond,  make an ice cream sundae together,  make up a story and then act it out, play leap-frog, hike,  fly a kite, visit elderly family members…  I could go on!

I haven’t seen ya around the blogosphere, hope you are well.

Those are great.  I’m trying to spend more quality time with my little ones.  Sorry I haven’t been over to SAM for a while.  Watch for me sooner or later!

Hmmm.  When I was a kid, no one ever managed to turn cleaning into a game!

Months ago, there was a great article in the local monthly mother magazine, which was so good, I had to rip it out!  A grandfather ordered a roll of butcher paper and took turns drawing with his grandchild while they made up a story.  Creative and a keepsake!
