. . . is getting better. It’s been said: “We will all die of our last illness.” This may be true. On the other hand, there is a positive side to being sick. That is: the clarity you have when you get well!
I suppose under that axiom, getting sick is only a good thing until your final illness. I’m writing today from a perspective of one who just got better! I had hay fever so bad yesterday I could barely open my eyes. I drank lots of water and juice and took some antihistamines and most of all: rested (though I managed to get 2 posts in, hopefully their quality didn’t suffer - if it did I apologize). An “almost summer” desert sun greeted me as I went out the door, down the driveway and to my Jeep which I had just cleaned and waxed before I got sick (boy it looked good!).
As I watched the kids with their backpacks walking to school, and turned on the lively radio station, I felt elated to be part of it all. I realized at that moment that life could not be as sweet without some sickness. We should keep the terminally ill in our hearts and prayers and certainly never wish sickness on them, but for the large percentage of us humans walking the Earth, we’d do good to not dread sickness so much. After all, it’s what makes us treasure being well.
