The Satisfaction of My First Google Check
This photo is a good illustration of the mood “satisfaction.” I started with Google ads on my site nearly 2 years ago in early 2007 and I finally cracked the $100 threshold this past week. The check came in the mail today and as I had once vowed to you all, I’ve posted a photo of me holding it. You can blow it up to 900px by clicking on the check. Satisfaction is a highly valuable mood state to a blogger. You feel empowered, rested, inspired, and accomplished. You feel like you can move forward without frustration. This does wonders for the mood. Blogging has extreme highs but let’s face it, unless you’re Chris Brogan or one of those other “geniuses” (I say that respectfully but with my tongue firmly in my cheek) mood lifters don’t happen every day. Thanks to my readers of the last 2 years, we’ve been through a lot together. This Google check may only be $109 but it is a huge milestone for me. I both appreciate and intend to pay you back through the currency of positive energy here at “Postcards” in the years to come. Comments are appreciated! Let’s party.

Meet the

congrats!
@shazia mistry: Thank you!!!
Congrats, I had Google Direct Deposit my 1st hundred beans, I am very close to earning my 2nd hundred, this means I would have earned $200 from Google in less than 1 calendar year so far.
@Dragon Blogger: That’s incredible man. Keep up the good work.
Congrats man and I dig the new look
Stumbled.
PS Hope all is well thanks
@John Sullivan: Thanks for the good vibes. All indeed is well here. I’ll try and not be a stranger. Thanks for coming over and commenting dude.
Thats awesome. we are hoping for our first hundred soon!
Wow! That is very cool! Yes, that is a huge milestone and obviously, not just about the $100. I really like that picture of you!
I feel your pain! lol. This is great. It will be a glorious day when my first check arrives.
Congratulations, and thanks for sharing. You will be celebrating it with your family I suppose?
@yourtampa: Thanks. Yours will probably come before mine. You learn your own system and I have a lonnnnnng learning curve
Best wishes.
@Jessica The Rock Chick: You’ve been with me along this blog journey. It’s so great knowing you are there. Thanks about the picture. I’ve been wanting to do one with the Google check and it took forever but here I am
Yours will be there soon I am sure.
@Ryan Kazinec: Maybe I’m a masochist LOL. Yours will come soon. Just keep blogging and having ideas.
@M: Thanks. Actually it paid for drive through food both ways to my parents’ house. We’re a family of 5 so that used a little chunk. After that we went to get ice cream at Sonic Burger … There’s still a little left for a few days of ridiculously over-priced coffees on my way to work.
Damien, congrats on reaching this milestone and celebrating with a picture of the check. I’m sure that this will simply be the first of many more checks to come and I am happy to have had the opportunity to share this moment with you. It couldn’t have come to a more deserving person!
@Derek: Thanks bro. I’m looking forward to watching your continued success as well, wherever it is. Every time I read your blogs I learn cool stuff.
That’s awesome!
Well done.
I put Adsense on my main blog about a year ago now. It gets okay traffic, several hundred hits a day, yet for some reason not many people click on the ads. I think it may be because the content is so eclectic, not specific.
Anyway, I’m up around 13 bucks so far. So, it looks like I might get my first payment in a decade or so!
@Matt: Thanks. Niche has been good for me. I have three blogs: one on psychology (this one), another on teaching, and then a personal diary. Good luck man.
Congratulations my friend.
What a picture….
See you around.
@lunaticg: Thanks friend. I appreciate your nice comment!
Hey Congrats to you! Google doesn’t issue checks very easily unless you put some serious work into building your empire.
