For at least 2 months now my blog was reduced to a PR0 from a PR4. I don’t know the reason why exactly but I did petition for them to reconsider a while back. I have sponsored posts on my blog and disclose that publicly here. I also have some duplicate content out there, not much but some.
Anyway, after pretty much giving up on Google, it appears they have given my blog a new chance and started me at a PR2 this morning. I am glad they did this it shows they can listen to some reason though I have no idea why I am not at my old PR4 or higher. My backlinks and stats are considerably higher than then.
I guess I will take what I can get from the almighty Google.
I am glad it happened though because as I tried to boycott all things Google over the past two months, I learned that Yahoo! Mail is much better as are many services offered by other companies. One I couldn’t break away from unfortunately was Google Analytics. Based on what I have seen out there, there is nothing as helpful as that. So I still use it. Besides that I no longer use Google Reader and a variety of Google services I used to think were the best, or the “holy of holies.” I think sometimes you need to get pissed off to get out there and see how great the competition is. I have my Technorati rank along with my Feedburner feed stats in my header to indicate to my readers how popular this blog is. I find that more accurate than PageRank anyway. If my PageRank gets back up to its previous 4 maybe I’ll put a badge up for it as well, but for now I’m “once bitten, twice shy” with Google. I’ll be curious to see if my PR grows, stays static or disappears again. Oh and I fully plan on continuing to use PayPerPost and IZEA services in case anyone was wondering.

I’ve tried to use Google Analytics but I must be doing something wrong…not sure what yet, but I’ll figure it out and then see what all the fuss is about. And I’ll have to look into PayPerPost, I haven’t heard of that before.

Thanks for stopping by to comment Katelynn, and for the congrats as well. Google Analytics is my perfect daily tool as far as blog maintenance and growth. It tells me how many unique visitors I have every day and then I can check out the stats over a period of time like a week, or month, or even a year. It will tell me my highest traffic source urls and order them. It will let me know which visitors are staying the longest and from what sources those came from. This is especially helpful in determining what widgets and services are doing any good or not.
So far, I haven’t found any free service for analytics that even comes close to what Google Analytics does. If you’d like any further help with it, drop me an email or leave another comment. I am happy to help.
PayPerPost is also an awesome service. Just be aware that Google has decided to punish your page rank for doing sponsored posts for them Personally, I prefer the pay to a high Google PR but many advertising and other services wont use your blog if you have a low PR. So it’s a bit of a conundrum for some people … not me though. I don’t like anyone telling me what to do.
Damien, what are you using instead of Google Reader? I Google and Bloglines.

@Marcia: I use Flock. It’s actually a web browser that is just like Firefox only with some more features. It has a built in feed reader that I’ve gotten hooked on. I’d never go back to Google reader.
Bloglines is another good one I recommend.
I went from a PR5 to a PR3 to a PR0 last week. Today, I am now a PR2. And I have made it known I will continue to write paid reviews/posts. I honestly don’t think Google knows what they want to do with PR.

I had no idea my PR is back until my friend told me about it today. I was a Pr 4 then it dropped to PR3 then Pr0. I’m glad it has regained PR even though it’s just a mere 2. It’s better than 0.

Yep, I feel your pain. Mine seems to flucutate on a bi-weekly basis….trying to figure it out with no luck. Very frusterating sometimes.
