Planning to See a Best Friend

I’m not going to talk about how friends are good for your psychology because even though they are, that’s secondary.  Friends are just so good in so many ways.

A little while back my best friend sent me a button through Facebook.  As I have begin to understand it, Facebook consists of nothing more than a hundred ways to “nudge” someone, which on it’s own is cool.  Anyway, if you’ve read here long you’ve hear me reference Eric many times.  I ought to make an “Eric” category, or at least a tag.  I’ll look into that.

Eric and I talked yesterday, it seems now that we’re a bit older and caught up in our own lives we don’t hang out as much.  We do lots of cool stuff together because (not my words, others) we are both geniuses.  Before you jump on me and say I’m bragging … trust me it’s more of a curse than you would imagine.  Erics’s used his genius to work on the Simpsons as an animator, write top 10 hit songs, etc.  I’ve turned my mind toward education.  I said all that just to note that we both love music and the arts.  We’re also both extremely real and inquisitive.  So … before he gets sick of me, our visits are quite incredible.  The contain all the stuff that best friend meetups should.  Unfortunately, they are very hard to schedule.

We live about 1 1/2 hours apart and of course I love spending time with my kids and some weekends it’s hard to drag myself away.  Today I am making a solid effort to make a date on the calendar to go see my best friend.  It isn’t on my schedule for the day of things to do, but I am putting it at the top of the list.

If you are blessed enough to have a best friend, have you set up your next hangout?

It’s so important to spend time with friends. I’ve been so busy here that I haven’t had a chance to see my friends for months now and I’m telling you, I feel it.

They recharge your batteries, don’t they?

You make a really good point here. I have several friends that I haven’t seen or even talked to for quite some time. I really do need to make it a higher priority and do that….what does it say about the state of society when we need to schedule time to see friends and have fun?
