So I found this Theme
I’m sticking with it for better or for worse. I have been getting way too involved in tweaking and addons. It’s time to just “write” for a while, get the focus back on what I know how to do (my hacking skills leave MUCH to be desired). Anyway, no comments about it please. It is isn’t wonderful, it isn’t horrible, it’s just a vehicle to get my words out. I like it because it’s simple. Though my endeavors of the past week haven’t been fruitful, I know I learned a lot and I take that with me wherever I go, whatever I do. Now I’m off to the ball game!

I mention wanting tabs (for mine) and look what appears on yours! I admit I miss the changing quotes, I actually read them sometimes, but the trade off for the tabs is worth it.
Seriously, this is great. Also, I like that you are so organized category wise.
The quotes are back!!! Thank you so much.
I know you said no comments but I like the theme. It’s simple and pleasant on the eye. :) I look at a LOT of blogs in my day to day readings, and some of them are majorly ugly. Some of them give me a sharp pain in my skull, even!
I agree that a blog is just a vehicle to get your words out, and I like your words as much as this theme, so.. there ya go then.. glad I found you!
Having said that, I’ll be adding you to my google reader (basically a feed reader, if you’re not using google reader it’s worth checking out, you’re already in there on the RSS feed from bumpzee), my sidebar list of blogs I read via google reader, and my Technorati favorites, just so you know. ;)
I’ll also mention you in my weekly wrap up post on Sunday.

I think the art of theme-picking is to find one that makes the site visually pleasing but doesn’t distract from the words you write. As such, I think this one is just fine as it certainly doesn’t detract from your writing and even seems to lend a touch of gravitas with the simple lines and subdued colors.
There is certainly a cost to finding and maintaining a theme, too. I use Tarski, on my site, and there are semi-regular updates to it that need to be installed (and have occasionally been a bit cranky post-upgrade). Hopefully this theme is easier for you to maintain than Tarski has been for me to maintain in the past…
Snoskred: Thank you so much for those kind words. Writing is supposed to be fun, but as F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote while penning “The Great Gatsby,” - “All Great Writing is swimming underwater hoslding your breath.” I gues to me it’s a sort of sweet torture. Comments and readers like you make it coming up for air! I do have Google reader and most on my Blogroll are on mine. I’ll make sure you are on mine by day’s out . . . at current i’m heading out the door to make copies for summer school. Thanks again.
Matt: Thank you for that wisdom. I agree 100% and I admire your sticking with one theme. I have a site on my reader called “Web Tools Collection” that puts out new themes every other day. it makes it tempting to change. I’m not saying I won’t change again in my blogging hobby/career, but there is much truth to your words that it should not detract from ones words. My words are my latest “theme” of choice. Hoping I craft them well. This theme and layout will be better suited to multiple posts per day which is what my focus is as of a couple weeks ago. Have you seen “Doc Searls Weblog?” If you see how his multiple posts per day are laid out you can see kind of what I aim aiming at. Thanks again Matt. I’m so glad I stumbled upon you (no pun intended) through Hot Coffee Girl back in January or February when I started. If there’s ever anything I can do for you, let me know.
I know you said we aren’t supposed to comment on the theme, but I really like it!!! I think it’s very eye pleasing! I would keep it….just a suggestion!!!

Themes say alot about a person and who the person behind the writing is…you know what I mean?
The new theme looks great, much cleaner and easier on the eye - Have you thought about custom designing one you truly like?
I kept going through themes and trying to find one I liked and finally this morning I got to work and said “I’m designing my own theme!” and thats exactly what I’m doing - making something unique and trying to capture my readers attention.
Looks can kill - always remember that.
Nick, great to find you AGAIN in my SPAM folder . . . my askimet bot isn’t learning!!!
Thanks for that word. I am currently in Riley school learning php and wordpress theme coding. I’ll never be as good as you, but I learn enough to adjust things and add a pic or widget here and there. Most themes suck. I found this one and I am gonna add high desert photos for the header. It’s got a clean look and that is what I’m looking for. Maybe if I go down the sandbox route you can give me a pointer or two. ;)
what theme is this?
would you mind sending me your archives.php file? i’m trying to craft up an archives index like yours.
thanks!
Hi. You can access all the theme files through the Journal Hypereal link in the footer. I proudly promote this theme.
As far as the archives go, it’s a plugin. It’s called KG Archives. You can download it here.
Keep in touch about your site! Thanks for stopping by!
