A Short Thought This Easter

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Well, it was a wonderful Easter here at home. We decided to not travel this year and I’m glad we did so. We decorated egss, had a lot of chocolate and I did some sidewalk painting with my 3 year old. All in all it was very well spent and I think one of the best ever.

I shared with my son the story of Easter and it brought up some nice father and son interchange. It also gave me an idea for a short thought this Easter for the blog:

There are probably just as many atheist scientists through history as there are those who believe in God. If you want to research that fact, I suggest starting with Wikipedia:

Religious Scientists through History

Atheist Scientists through History

For me, if you believe in Easter, then you can believe in heaven. You are not alone, there are others.

On the other hand, if you are an atheist, then you only have the dirt. That is your final destination. You are not alone either, there are many smart scientists who believe like you.

To summarize is to say this:

You can believe one of two things this Easter, either that you will one day see God in the clouds after you die

-or-

that when you die you will return to the dirt and nowhere else.

Sorry if I sound simplistic, but smart smart people exist on both sides, I’d rather choose the clouds option ;)

Easter can be a time where everything renews itself, whether it’s for all eternity or if it is like the land renewing itself for something new, purely organic, temporary but beautiful renewing itself in you. May we all experience both in as much as we invite them in. Happy Easter.
