Postcards from the Funny Farm

I started messing with my Wordpress theme right after I started my blog. I must have thousands saved on my hard drive that I only used an hour or so. If you have read this blog through all that time (you know who you are) you know I had a hard time making up my mind. Getting Wordpress Themes you like is not that hard, it’s the pinning one down to “live with” that seems a bit challenging for many.

There’s a new place you can get free wordpress themesI want to tell you about. It’s called Top WP Themes. It is really easy to navigate and the themes are divided into easily searchable categories. This would be a great place for a newbie just learning about the “themes thing.” In the same way, it’s an excellent resource for the more seasoned like myself who want a simple interface to check out some new themes. When I download a theme, I usually tweak it until no one can recognize it. Whether you do that or whether you use it 100% as-is, you will be very pleased with this new service to the Wordpress community.

You’ll see a variety of visual themes showcased here at Postcards throughout the next couple of weeks. I want to share with you some of the themes I’ve admired and used in the past year and a half. I also hope this “series” will accent the versatility of WordPress. Feel free to leave comments about the themes. This is a tribute to these designers who spent many hours making them look so breathtaking. Enjoy the view.

I’ve been looking for a new theme competition and coming up empty for several months now.  If you know of any, please let me know.

Because I think the net needs a new “Oasis” of award winning WordPress themes in one location, I’m thinking of hosting my own low-key theme competition including, but not limited to, Sandbox CSS skins.

If I do it, I want the prizes to be there so if you’d like to sponsor through donating a few bucks or maybe your time in judging, promoting, CREATING THEMES FOR IT, etc.  Let me know, I think it would be awesome and it would give me a reason to finish the theme I’ve been working on for 3 months! ;)
