The Pursuit of Happiness

I’m watching 20/20, one of my favorite tv shows and the topic is “what is happiness.” Apparently, studies have shown that the place where most people claim to be happy is Denmark. Freezing cold Denmark! Go figure. I consider myself happy I suppose. I have fun at my job, I have hobbies, people who love me. I think I am most happy when I feel like I belong, I think everyone wants to think they are needed.

Bosses and jobs come and go, especially these days. I found out yesterday I could be getting a new boss soon. There are some things in life you can control and others you can’t. So what should I pursue to perpetuate happiness? I dunno … here’s list because it’s late and I’m far too tired to write anymore thought out paragraphs. I like blogs for that!

  1. Let others know they are important, what you give out comes back.
  2. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Let things go.
  3. Seek to inspire others, but get your inspiration first.
  4. Don’t be bossy.
  5. Love your kids/family actively. Let them really know you.
  6. Be frugal and smart how you spend your money, but don’t fixate on saving and wealth.
  7. Check out some of the new juices on the market. Try ‘em out. Juices and tasty drinks are my new thing … get a new thing that makes you happy and that is cheap is huge in the pursuit of happiness (it sounds silly, but try it).

How do you pursue happiness? Do ya think you’re there?

For me, happiness is an emotion that comes and goes.  I want to be content no matter what season of life I’m in.  Sorry you’ve probably heard me say that already, but you asked.
