When Bloggers Push Clicking

I get emails almost weekly from a guy who runs a “dad” blog.  Normally, this is a category I enjoy, since I am in that demographic :)  Unofrtunately for this person, he constantly urges his “poorness” and need for his visitors to click his ads.  he even goes so far as to say “You don’t have to buy anything, just click them.”  I think that is against the TOS, but I am not sure.

I sent this person an email today asking to be taken off the list (if it is going to be ad pushing).  To make things worse, he pushes 3 different blogs he writes and they are all on blogspot (things that make you go hmmmm).

This person found me about a year ago on Blog Catalog.  Remember not everyone on social networking has the best blog intentions.

I hope the best for this guy.  I am sure he’s just a little misguided.  I can guarantee him I am not the only one turned off by these email “begs.” I want to stress that I am no perfect blogger.  My new “personal blog” emphasis is teaching me a lot I didn’t know.  Still, I felt it was important to post today about bloggers who push clicking.  Not only is it against the advertisers’ TOS, it’s just tacky.

Encouraging people to click on Adsense ads is a clear violation of Adsense policies, they are absolutely clear on this. Misguided or not, the publisher will soon find himself banned from the program when someone reports the abuse.

Adwords advertisers will pounce on this sort of behavior wherever they see it, (after all, they are the ones suffering from artificially generated click activity) and I don’t hold out much hope for this individual’s Adsense account. Maybe you should politely point out the error of his ways, and perhaps he will avoid getting “snitched” on and become a responsible publisher henceforth :-)

Hi Maurice. I did send him a nice email explaining that. I never heard back, so hopefully he got the message!
